Gerrit Schellens ends great carreer in Triathlon with sixth win in Almere
The Belgian athlete, in search of nothing but the first place, really pushed for greatness. With a 8'19"05 time and a 6th win within 10 years time, Gerrit really said a great goodbye to 'his' Almere. The 25 year old Erik-Simon Strijk had a great day, and his second place and 8'35 time showed he's ready for the big boys league. Third place went to Dutchman Roeland Smits.
In the womens race the victorie went to reigning winner Irene Kinnegim, who's 9'29"38 was good for a 19th place overall. Second and third place went to Carla van Rooijen and Marleen Vos.
Gregor Buchholz wins Almere European Premiumcup
The win in Almere's Olympic Distance race went to German talent Gregor Buchholz, in only 1'51"16. It As often happens in these (relatively) short distance races, the race was decided in the final metres. The difference with the second athlete (Irish Bryan Keane), was no more than 1 second. French Brice Daubord came in third after 16 seconds.
The ladies race was won by British Jodie Swallow. In just 2'01"44 she was 12 seconds faster than Czech Radka Vodickova. Third place went to German Anne Haug.
